Pesky

I am drawn to simplicity of line and am interested in natural abstraction found in the interplay between historical buildings and their surrounds. The shapes created between structural elements vary depending on the angle in which the streetscapes are viewed and photographed.

I pay particular attention to the natural curve of tram wires and power lines – Along a street or at an intersection, these wires create an illusionary web, trapping the old behind the new.

When I design the images for final art, I aim to move the images away from their base in photography and to develop them into something new. Colour, line and balance all play an important role in this process.
The amount the colours are altered varies depending on the nature of the original photograph. Each image is different and requires different amounts of reworking.” PESKY is the brainchild of Melbourne illustrator Caitlin Murray.
